Starfish project for Reef Check Malaysia and Starhill Gallery, KL, Malaysia

This Starfish was designed for a charity event organized by Starhill Gallery,
which is luxury mall located in the heart of Bukit Bintang, KL, Malaysia in
conjunction with Starhill Gallery's 2010, Arts Festival.
The charity is meant to raise funds for Reef Check Malaysia which is an
organization in charged of creating public awareness of the plight of the
marine-ecosystem, mainly the coral reefs. I designed the initial starfish
with its arms reaching upwards to personify the creature with an affable
character with the aims of creating a joyful link between the public and
the sea animal. The starfish was then molded by a factory that produced
200 or more copies. They were then sold to the public and celebrities
(Jimmy Choo) for them to paint. The most interesting works will be auctioned
on the Gala Night to raise funds for Reef Check. (
